JobAssist review: is JobAssist legit?

Yes, JobAssist is a working product: a web app that scores jobs against your profile and submits applications you approve one at a time. The concerns are about money and fit. A $5.99 first week renews at $59.99 a month, refunds are discretionary, and Trustpilot reviewers report irrelevant matches.

Our verdict

JobAssist is a real product with a sound idea: you approve every application and replies land in one place. Read the renewal terms before paying. The $5.99 first week becomes $59.99 a month, refunds are discretionary, and public reviews raise repeated concerns about match relevance.

Good fit for: Job seekers who want to approve each application themselves and see replies in one place, and who will cancel or budget for the monthly renewal before the intro period ends.

What it does well

  • Nothing is sent without your approval, one job at a time
  • Applications, recruiter replies and interview invites are tracked in one place
  • Writes a cover letter for each role
  • Prices and renewal amounts are published on the homepage and in the terms

Where it falls short

  • The $5.99 first week renews at $59.99 a month, a step Trustpilot reviewers complain about
  • Refunds are at JobAssist's discretion, not a stated right
  • Job sources aren't named beyond '7M+ verified jobs'
  • Its site is inconsistent on whether it rewrites your resume
  • Trustpilot rating of 1.7 from 22 reviews, with no replies to negative reviews (October 12, 2026)

Tolta competes with JobAssist. We’ve tried to be fair: every fact below links to JobAssist’s own pages or a public review site, and we say where JobAssist does something well. We haven’t run a paid trial of JobAssist yet. This review is based on JobAssist’s own site, its terms, Trustpilot and public user reports, checked on October 12, 2026. We’ll update it after hands-on testing.

If you’re weighing tools that auto-apply to jobs for you, the questions below are the ones we’d ask of any of them: what it costs after the intro price, what happens when you want your money back, and whether the jobs it picks fit you.

Is JobAssist legit?

JobAssist is a real, working web app. It scores jobs from 0 to 100 against your profile, and when you click Auto Apply on one, it fills the application form, attaches a cover letter written for that role and submits it. The concerns people raise are about billing, refunds and match quality, not about whether the product exists.

Here’s what JobAssist’s homepage says it does:

  • Matching. It scores each job against your profile and draws from “7M+ verified jobs” with “200,000+ new jobs daily”. It doesn’t name the boards or sites those jobs come from.
  • Approval. “You choose every job, one click at a time; nothing is ever sent without your approval.” That’s a stricter approval model than most auto-apply tools.
  • Tracking. Applications, recruiter replies and interview invites appear in one place. The site doesn’t say how replies are captured, for example whether it uses your own email or a separate address.

A few things we couldn’t pin down. JobAssist’s terms refer only to “the operator of JobAssist”, and we didn’t find a named legal entity. Trustpilot lists the company in the United States, with the profile claimed in June 2026. And the site contradicts itself on CV tailoring: “How it works” says “JobAssist tailors your resume”, while the FAQ says “your resume is entirely your own – we never rewrite it.” The cover letter is clearly written per role. If a tailored CV matters to you, ask support before paying.

How much does JobAssist cost?

As of October 2026, JobAssist sells three plans with an introductory price that then renews at a higher rate. The cheapest entry is $5.99 for the first week, which then renews at $59.99 every month. JobAssist notes that pricing may vary by region and promotion.

Plan Introductory price Then renews at
7-Day Plan $5.99 for the first week $59.99 every month
1-Month Plan (“Most popular”) $23.99 for the first month $59.99 every month
3-Month Plan $49.99 for the first 3 months $149.99 every 3 months

The step from $5.99 to $59.99 is the part to plan around. If you’re trying it for a week, set a reminder a day or two before the week ends and decide then.

You can cancel from account settings or by email, and access continues to the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are not a stated right. The terms say: “While we’re not in a position to accommodate refund requests as a routine matter, we’re always willing to take a look at the circumstances… Any outcome will depend on the specifics of the case and remains at our discretion.” Requests go to help@jobassist.com within 30 days of the charge.

What do users complain about?

On October 12, 2026, JobAssist’s Trustpilot page showed 1.7 out of 5 from 22 reviews, about 95% of them 1-star, with no replies to the negative ones. Three themes repeat: a trial-style intro price followed by a full monthly charge and refused refunds, matches that ignore stated preferences, and fewer matches than advertised after paying.

In more detail, paraphrased from those reviews:

  1. Billing after the intro period. Reviewers describe signing up for what they understood as a 7-day trial, then being charged for a full month, and having refund requests turned down.
  2. Irrelevant matches. Several say the recommended jobs were outdated, in the wrong location, or ignored the seniority and skills they’d set.
  3. Fewer matches than expected. Some say the volume of suitable jobs dropped after they paid.

There’s another side. One Trustpilot reviewer reported a fast refund. JobAssist’s homepage shows “Excellent 4.8 based on 870 reviews”; that badge comes from REVIEWS.io, not Trustpilot, and reviews there praise time saved and match quality. Twenty-two reviews is a small sample, so read what the low reviews describe and decide whether it applies to your search.

Who is JobAssist a good fit for?

JobAssist suits someone who wants to approve every application personally, is happy to work in a web app, and wants applications and recruiter replies in one place. Its approve-each-job model is a real strength. It suits you less if you’re on a tight budget, or if your search is narrow enough that match relevance matters more than volume.

Specifically, it’s a reasonable fit if:

  • You want control over every submission and don’t want anything sent in your name without a click.
  • You’ll treat the first week as a test and decide before it renews at $59.99.
  • You’re searching broadly enough that some irrelevant matches won’t waste much of your time.

It’s a weaker fit if you need to know exactly where jobs come from, need a tailored CV for each application, or can’t absorb a monthly charge you might not get back.

How is Tolta different?

Tolta reads postings directly from company career boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Rippling, Workable and Teamtailor), tailors both your CV and cover letter for each job, and applies through the employer’s own form. When a form asks something it doesn’t know, it holds the application and asks you once. Tolta is pre-launch and hasn’t announced prices.

The differences that matter most against JobAssist:

  • Known sources. Every job comes from a named career board, not an unnamed pool. Auto-apply is live today on Workable, Rippling and Teamtailor, with more boards being switched on.
  • Asks instead of guessing. If an application needs an answer your profile doesn’t have, Tolta stops and asks, then reuses your answer next time. How that works, and what’s never auto-filled, is on our safety page.
  • Your own application address. Each user gets a personal application email address, and employer replies arrive in an in-app inbox.
  • No LinkedIn automation. Tolta doesn’t run bots on LinkedIn.

Where JobAssist is ahead: it’s live, its prices and renewal terms are public, and its approve-every-job model gives you a firm say over each submission. If you’re comparing other options, see our Sprout review and our roundup of the best AI job application tools.

Frequently asked questions

Is JobAssist legit or a scam?

JobAssist is a real, working web app that scores jobs against your profile and submits applications you approve. We wouldn't call it a scam. The documented problems are billing and fit: a $5.99 first week that renews at $59.99 a month, refunds handled at its discretion, and Trustpilot reviewers who say recommended jobs ignored their location, seniority or skills.

How much does JobAssist cost after the trial?

As of October 2026, JobAssist lists a 7-Day Plan at $5.99 for the first week and a 1-Month Plan at $23.99 for the first month. Both renew at $59.99 every month. The 3-Month Plan is $49.99 for the first three months, then $149.99 every three months. JobAssist notes that pricing may vary by region and promotion.

Can I get a refund from JobAssist?

Maybe. JobAssist's terms say it handles payment concerns case by case and isn't 'in a position to accommodate refund requests as a routine matter'. Any outcome is at its discretion. To ask, email help@jobassist.com within 30 days of the charge. One Trustpilot reviewer reported a fast refund; others reported refusals.

How do I cancel JobAssist?

JobAssist says you can cancel from your account settings or by email. Access continues until the end of the billing period you already paid for. If you're on the $5.99 first week, cancel before it ends if you don't want the $59.99 monthly renewal, and keep the confirmation email in case of a dispute.

Does JobAssist apply without my approval?

No, according to its FAQ: 'You choose every job, one click at a time; nothing is ever sent without your approval.' Once you approve a job, Auto Apply fills the form, attaches a cover letter written for that role and submits it. We haven't verified this flow hands-on yet.

Why is JobAssist rated 4.8 on its site but 1.7 on Trustpilot?

They're different platforms. The 'Excellent 4.8 based on 870 reviews' badge on JobAssist's homepage comes from REVIEWS.io. Trustpilot showed 1.7 out of 5 from 22 reviews on October 12, 2026, mostly 1-star. Read both, and look at what the low reviews describe rather than only the score.

Does JobAssist tailor my resume?

Its own site is unclear. One section says 'JobAssist tailors your resume', while the FAQ says 'your resume is entirely your own' and that it never rewrites it. The cover letter is written for each role. If CV tailoring matters to you, ask JobAssist support before paying.

What's a good JobAssist alternative?

It depends on what you want to fix. Sprout is a mobile swipe-to-apply app with published weekly and monthly prices. Simplify offers a free autofill extension where you submit yourself. Tolta, our product, applies on the employer's own form from company career boards and asks you instead of guessing; it's pre-launch, with no prices announced.
